Herts Hidden Heroines was a project funded by Heritage Lottery Fund and run by Trestle Theatre Company, to discover and uncover the lost and forgotten amazing women of Hertfordshire. From Boudicca to Barbara Cartland, and Constance Lytton to Katherine Ferrers, the county was and is full of amazing women, game changers and high flyers. Joanna Scott, founder of Darkly Lovely Design, worked as Lead Artist on the project, creating illustration, graphics, leading workshops and liaising with producer and writer Anna Reynolds on all aspects of the running of Herts Hidden Heroines for over a year. The illustration on its own was used as a large scale communal colouring page for an interactive element to the touring exhibition of Herts Hidden Heroines - here it works as a promo poster too.

WANTED posters for some of the more notorious historic women of the county

A graphic novel layout based on the recorded actions of Queen Boudica of the Iceni against the Romans. Workshop participants added their own words to the speech bubbles to convey how they felt the words would come out with the actions displayed.

Logo and banner design for the project - the Heritage Lottery Fund logo had to be made much bigger for press coverage in the final version.
